Welcome to Son of a Nutcracker Lights!

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) outline the rules, responsibilities, and conditions that apply when using the Son of a Nutcracker Lights website and engaging with our services. By accessing our website, submitting an estimate request, or booking any of our lighting services, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, please refrain from using our website or services.
Scope of Services

Son of a Nutcracker Lights provides professional holiday lighting services, including installation, maintenance, takedown, and optional storage. All services performed fall under the scope of this agreement.

Payment Terms

A 50% deposit is due at the time of booking to secure your installation date. The remaining balance is due upon completion of the installation. If the final balance is not paid within 7 days, a late fee of $50 per week may be applied.

Rental & Purchase Options

We offer both rental and purchase plans for your lighting display:

  • Purchase Option: Designed for returning customers who want to lock in long-term service and pricing. You still receive full installation, takedown, and storage services — but you gain ownership of the lights after a three-season minimum commitment. After that, you’ll receive a discounted rehang rate of 75% of the original install price in future seasons. This is ideal for customers looking for a consistent, long-term lighting partner.


  • Rental Option: Lights remain the property of Son of a Nutcracker Lights. A $50 annual storage fee applies. After 3 consecutive seasons, ownership may be transferred upon request.

Contrat Duration & Cancellation

For rentals, a minimum three (3) year commitment applies. If you wish to opt out after this period, please notify us before October 1st to avoid a $50 late cancellation fee. Early cancellations prior to fulfilling the 3-year term may be subject to additional fees.

Access to Property

Safe, unobstructed access to your property must be provided for installation, service calls, and takedown. This includes cleared walkways, driveways, and adequate exterior lighting.

Liability & Indemnification

Son of a Nutcracker Lights is not liable for any damage resulting from natural weather events, structural issues, or pre-existing conditions.
By using our services, you agree to hold Son of a Nutcracker Lights harmless from any claims, losses, or damages that may arise in connection with your lighting display.

Use of Property Photos

We may take photos of your lighting display for use in our marketing materials, website, or social media.
If you prefer to opt out, simply let us know—no hard feelings.

Dispute Resolution

We strive to resolve all issues professionally and promptly. If necessary, any disputes will be governed by the laws of the State of Illinois.

Privacy & Data Protection

Son of a Nutcracker Lights values your privacy. By submitting your information through our website or intake forms, you consent to the collection and use of your personal data for the purpose of providing services, sending estimates, scheduling, and maintaining ongoing customer relationships.


We may also use your contact information to send service updates, promotions, and seasonal offers. You can unsubscribe from marketing communications at any time.

Weather & Installation Delays

While we make every effort to install on your desired date, all installations are weather-dependent. Severe weather, safety risks, or other unforeseen delays may impact your scheduled install or takedown. In such cases, we will notify you promptly and reschedule at the earliest available time.

Damage to Lights or Property

Customers are responsible for notifying us if they or a third party (e.g., roofers, landscapers, other contractors) remove or damage any part of the lighting display. Repairs or replacements due to non-weather-related or third-party damage may result in additional charges.

We may occasionally update these Terms to reflect changes in our services, business practices, or legal obligations. The most current version will always be available on our website. By continuing to use our services after changes are posted, you agree to the revised Terms.
